Farmer's No. 1

This “Modern Farmhouse” was a Design+Build work completed by Franke : Franke as a prototype model, the first of up to four structures to be designed by F:F as single family residences intended as rentals for students and faculty of Texas A&M University.  Each subsequent will be distinctly different homes, but each will be based on the idea of modern farmhouse living and each will be designed as a 4 bedroom, 4 bath home, and all will be designed and constructed to allow for a fifth master bedroom and en suite bathroom to be easily added at a later date, to serve as a “game day” home with ample room for visitors and a separate owner suite, or as a conversion to a larger family home.  The project material palette was selected for durability, environmental sustainability, and efficiency and includes concrete fiber board and baton siding, metal standing seam roof, extensive use of exposed framing porches to limit heat gain, and screened operable windows and large-opening porch doors for passive ventilation.  The Farmer's 1 project was entirely new construction, replacing a structurally unsound and deteriorated 1948 structure that previously occupied the site.  F:F and its select subcontractors and craftsmen delivered the entire project from design and permitting through finish-out and site construction.
