Harvey Relief Efforts

We hope that you and yours fared well through the wrath of Harvey, and we’re keeping all in our prayers as she hopefully continues to weaken and move out of Texas and Louisiana over the coming week.  It’s still not over for Houston, in particular, but the original landfall areas are beginning to clear.  It’s been a terrible tragedy for so many, and will take a huge toll on the Texas coast for some time to come.  But, we all know Texas and Texans will rebuild and restore all of our coastal resources, communities, and places with a can-do attitude and willingness to jump in and help each other as best we can.  That’s been happening from the first night Harvey came ashore, and relief momentum continues to grow.

Now that roads are being cleared and the first large scale relief convoys have reached much of the coast, we will be making a supply delivery run from Austin to the Aransas Pass area and – if possible – to Port Aransas, leaving this Friday, September 1, at 7:00 AM from Austin.  We will have an open flatbed trailer, and two trucks capable of carrying as many supplies as we can gather from friends, family, and colleagues, or purchase as necessary to be able to deliver full loads of non-perishable food, bottled water and energy drinks, diapers and wipes, cleaning supplies, protective gloves and masks, toiletries, clothing, and anything else that we can gather up.

ONE WAY YOU CAN HELP FROM AUSTIN . . .

On Thursday, August 31, we will have one and possibly two trucks parked on Brushy Street in front of our office as a drop-off point for donated supplies.  We are located at the corner of East 5th and Brushy Streets, which is one block east of the IH-35 frontage road.  A sign will identify the dark grey truck(s) as “Harvey Relief Supply Drop-Off”.  If you can drive by and place your donation in the bed of the truck . . . we’ll sort and secure the load as it accumulates.  If you want to call ahead to let us know you’re coming by so we can help you transfer your donations, our contact numbers can be found here on our webpage.

Also, by tomorrow (Wednesday) afternoon, a flatbed trailer will be parked in the driveway at 1609 A Hartford Road, 78703.  As with the trucks, if you can drive by and place your donation on the trailer . . . we’ll sort and secure the load as it accumulates.

ANY CONTRIBUTION YOU CAN MAKE TO THIS DELIVERY EFFORT WILL BE APPRECIATED BY OUR FELLOW TEXANS IN THESE HARD-HIT AREAS.  WE WILL DELIVER ALL SUPPLIES TO THE RED CROSS, OR NUECES OR SAN PATRICIO COUNTY EMERGENCY SERVICES DISTRIBUTION CENTERS AS REQUESTED OR DIRECTED BY LOCAL OFFICIALS.  PLEASE CONSIDER COMING BY ONE OF THE ABOVE LOCATIONS TOMORROW OR THURSDAY TO DROP OFF ANYTHING YOU CAN SPARE.  EVERY SMALL BIT OF RELIEF FOR OUR COASTAL FRIENDS HELPS SOMEONE IN NEED THAT OTHERWISE MIGHT GO WITHOUT.

If you have any questions or need more information on the drop off locations, please call our office number below.  Thank you in advance for your kind contributions to this effort!
